INR Bylaws
Starting
in 1958, the Indiana Northwest Region (INR) of the Sports Car Club of
America (SCCA) has been sponsoring automotive activities in the four
Northwest Indiana counties of Lake, Porter, Newton and Jasper. These
activities include:
-Autocross, also
known as solo, consists of everything from street to full race prepared
vehicles. These vehicles compete in a time trail manner on a course
consisting of orange traffic cones set up in a large obstruction free
parking lot. Speeds do not exceed everyday driving speeds.
-Rally, which is
following a set of directions from point A to point B over public roads
and trying to arrive at point B with the correct milage and time.
-Closed Course Road Racing,
which consists of full race prepared vehicles competing on one of the
five road courses in the surrounding area.
Our main goal is to bring motorsports
to men and women who are passionate about automobiles, speed and
competition. These are amateur events with little or no experience
needed. In Indian Northwest Region you will find local people to assist
in all these activities and share their experiences and knowledge to
help you enjoy legal motorsport activity. In connection with these
activities there are five yearly awards to INR members.
Dirty Dozen
The Dirty Dozen is a yearly award to
the twenty one most active members. The awards are typically INR shirts
and jackets given to members with the most points earned during the
calendar year. Points are earned by volunteering to help at INR and
SCCA racing activities, club events, membership meetings attendance,
and other events. Points are prorated according to the work and time
involved at each event.
Spark Plug of the
Year
Spark Plug of the Year is a trophy
awarded to an individual not on the INR board of directors who does the
most behind the scene work involved in the club activities.
Soloist of the Year
At each solo event every competitors
score is multiplied by a formula provided by SCCA to equalize times and
make comparison possible between the different classes. Points are
tallied throughout the season and whomever has the most points at the
end of the season wins Soloist of the Year.
Kone Killer Trophy
This traveling trophy is awarded to
the solo driver who has the most penalty time (cones/pylons) added to
his/her time while
participating in any of the INR Solo points events. The award is made
from a
STi Brembo brake caliper to remind you that sometimes slower is faster
Road Racer of the
Year
Points are awarded in a similar
fashion as the National Championship point awards but will include SCCA
regional events. Only SCCA sanction events will be considered for INR
Road Racer of the Year award. No more than two races outside of the
Great Lakes Division will be eligible for points. Only six total races
will be considered for the award. In the event of a tie the award will
be evaluated on the basis of first place finishes, then second place
finishes until a champion. When more that one driver competes in a
given car, neither driver shall be awarded points. Results shall be
sent to the 21 Club points keeper or a regional executive by no later
than December 1st.

Worker of the Year
Worker of the Year is determined by
the BOD for the individual (not on the BOD) who volunteers for the most
non INR but SCCA activities such as volunteering to staff races for
other SCCA clubs
